www.gaw.org.ghThe Western Regional branch of the Ghana Association of writers had a Reading Event on Sunday, January 29, 2017, in the front garden of Vodafone, Takoradi. Students from Ghana Secondary Technical School, Takoradi Secondary, Archbishop Porter Girls and Takoradi Technical University attended. Members and friends of GAW were also there. The group shared their own compositions, as well those of other authors.
Some of the students composed quite thought-provoking pieces whilst there. It was refreshing to listen to youth who are so enthusiastic about creative writing. There was a delightful discussion on how to cultivate a reading habit. The group was advised to buy time to read. They could schedule ten minutes reading time in the morning, afternoon, evening and at bedtime. All were reminded to have reading material on them, as they go about their daily activities, so that they can read whenever they get a chance.
